On December 28, 2008 the Denton Record Chronicle launched its five-part series exploring urban gas drilling and one Argyle-area neighborhood’s struggle against it.  The Denton newspaper reports that the expansion of natural gas industry into Barnett Shale leaves Argyle families with little recourse because of the dominance of the gas drilling companies.

Then the second part on December 29 reported about the gas boom bringing potential dangers closer to homes.

Texas in tug-of-war between underground mineral resources and the people who live on the surface are described in the third part on December 30.

The Denton Record Chronicle’s fourth part on December 31 reports observations and studies showing subtle, long-term effects of gas drilling.

In its last of five parts, the Denton Record Chronicle describes the opponents as well as the backers of gas wells taking up life-altering battles.
